John Grebe, CYF Drector

Greetings my name is John Grebe and I am excited to be joining Mt. Si Lutheran Church as the Director of Children, Youth, and Family. I grew up in Auburn where I attended Messiah Lutheran Church. After high school I joined the Navy where I served as a corpsman and was trained as a Marine Corp Medic and specialized in pediatrics. After the Navy I went to work for Children’s Hospital in Seattle. My next adventure led me to Lutheran Bible Institute where I earned my B.A. in Youth and Family ministry. I have served a number of churches in Washington and Connecticut. In addition to working in churches I have been actively involved in experiential education through roles in outdoor leadership, adventure programming, environmental education, and facilitation within organizations and camps in Washington, Connecticut, New York, and North Dakota.

Lutheran traditions, teachings, and culture have been a rich blessing in my life. I have enjoyed serving the church in word and service as a youth and family minister for over 20 years. This ministry is a tapestry made from weaving together a variety of communities, cross cultural experiences, and a high regard for interfaith dialogue. Over the years I’ve had the privilege experiencing Ministry in Mexico, Tanzania, Russia, and Ethiopia. The partnerships and these ministries have been life changing.

The roles in experiential education as well my time in Ministry evolved into a desire to pursue a M.Ed. In Transformational Leadership. As leaders in the community we must be able to respond in times that are ever-changing and be the change people need. I look forward to serving you and serving alongside you!
